Terms & Conditions

Customers agree to Copy Factory's terms and conditions by the act of submitting orders via either Copy Factory's online ordering site, instructions containing in an email message, or in person at the company's facility in Palo Alto, CA. Hard copy of this document is available upon request.

Work on an order begins when Copy Factory receives print ready files and payment is processed.


Quotations and online pricing

Pricing on Copy Factory's online ordering site are subject to change without notice. Written estimates are valid for 30 days and subject to change thereafter.


Accuracy of specifications

Estimates are based solely on the specifications provided. Copy Factory reserves the right to re-quote any job if, upon submission, specifications are found to be inconsistent with the original estimate.


Proofs

If the customer requests to see a soft or hard copy proof, then the production schedule begins upon Copy Factory's receipt of final approval.

Customers may elect to receive a soft proof or hard copy proof. Soft proofs are sent via email as PDF files and incur no extra charge. Hard copy proofs are printed on the actual job stock and sent via overnight shipping service. The customer is responsible for all charges related to the delivery and return of hard copy proofs.

Alternatively, hard copy proofs can be picked up and returned to our facility in Palo Alto thereby avoiding any applicable delivery charges.


Discovery of errors

If errors are found in your file, Copy Factory will alert you promptly. You may either submit corrected files or we will let you know what the cost will be for us to correct the files. We make no guarantee that any or all errors will be found in advance of production. The customer is fully responsible for submitting files that are ready to print. Please see File Preparation Guidelines section elsewhere on this website for assistance in making suitable files.


Content and specification changes

Requests for changes in the content or specifications of a printed piece must be submitted in writing. Applicable charges based on Copy Factory's current rates will be assessed to make requested author's alterations or design modifications.


Acceptance of orders

We reserve the right to refuse any order for any reason. Typically, the only reason an order might be rejected is if it contains highly distasteful or objectionable subject matter or is known to be illegal.


Copyright compliance and indemnification

Copy Factory assumes no liability for any damages resulting from unknowing violations of copyright laws or the illegal use of trade names or slogans. By submitting their order, customers acknowledge that they own the rights or have obtained permission to reproduce the materials being requested.


Order quantity

Copy Factory's policy is to produce the exact quantity ordered. Often, a small additional amount may also be delivered at no extra charge to the customer. In the rare event of a significant underun, Copy Factory reserves the right to deliver up to an industry standard of 10% short of the order quantity. In such cases, only the amount actually delivered will be billed and any overpayment will be refunded.


Turnaround time

Production turnaround times do not include shipping transit time. Turnaround times start upon our receipt of final files, payment and approval of proof (if requested) and end when the job is shipped. Keep in mind that only standard business days are counted as production days.


Subcontracting

Copy Factory reserves the right to contract with another vendor to perform any of the work required for an order.


Samples

Copy Factory may use products produced for customers as samples for marketing purposes, unless notified in writing by the customer that it does not have permission to do so.


Cancellations

If an order is canceled, customers are responsible for and obliged to pay for any costs incurred up to the point of cancellation. Even if the job has not been prepped or printed, customers may be required to pay a $15 processing fee for any cancelled order. To cancel an order, call 1-877-856-3400.


Delivery

Delays and/or damage incurred during shipping are not Copy Factory's responsibility. The customer assumes title for finished work at the time it passes to the carrier for shipping.


Billing

Credit card charges will appear on statements as "Copy Factory."


Sales tax

All California orders are subject to applicable state and local sales taxes.


Refund/return policy

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Returns are not applicable. Please contact us for details.


Warranty and limit of liability

Copy Factory guarantees all orders to be free of defects in workmanship. Any performance short of commonly accepted industry standards will be reprinted or refunded, at Copy Factory's discretion, provided claims are submitted according to the terms described herein.

Copy Factory's liability is limited to the stated sell price to the customer for any defective goods. In no event shall liability include special, consequential, incidental, indirect or similar damages, including without limit, lost profits. This constitutes the limit of warranty, regardless of verbal or written statements made by Copy Factory agents.


Claims

Customers must make any claims for damages, defects or shortages in writing within 5 business days of receipt of finished work. The absence of any such claim implies the customer's acceptance of completed work and acknowledgement of Copy Factory's full satisfaction of all terms, conditions and specifications.


Disputes and venue

Should there be a need for legal proceedings, the venue for any such dispute will be Palo Alto, California.


Security Policy

Your payment and personal information is always safe. Our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the Internet.


Privacy Policy

Copy Factory does not share any information it collects from order processing or general inquiries. Use of information is limited to purposes of customer contact, billing and shipping. Copy Factory does not store credit card information. Respecting the privacy of personal and company information is a fundamental Copy Factory policy. There are no circumstances under which customer information will be sold or used for any other purpose than the internal processing of orders.


Terms subject to changes

Copy Factory is a trade name under which Finley Communications, Inc. conducts business. Finley Communications, Inc. may elect to change all or part of this policy at any time. The posting of such changes will cause them to be effective immediately, unless expressly stated otherwise. Effective date of these Terms and Conditions is February 1, 2019.

Copy Factory provides digital and offset printing, color and black & white copies, poster printing, and bindery services for Palo Alto, Los Altos, Mountain View, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Santa Clara, the San Francisco Peninsula, Bay Area, South Bay, California, Nevada and the nation at large.
